This excellent research paper was written on January 28, 2016 by Hannah Jellema, a Senior at the Academic Magnet High School in North Charleston, SC. The paper “explores the construction of Castle Pinckney and Fort Moultrie in 1809 by identifying and examining the engineers who designed the forts, the construction crews that built them, and the unique layout and design of each structure. The purpose of this study is to recognize the engineer and work crew responsible for the construction of Castle Pinckney and to determine if they were the same who constructed Fort Moultrie.”
The Board of Directors of the Castle Pinckney Historical Preservation Society would like to thank Hannah for all of her hard work and for allowing us to share this valuable piece of research on Castle Pinckney.
